Das diesjährige Comeback der Black Eyed Peas nach 7-jähriger Abstinenz wird größer, lauter und sozialkritischer. Ihr neues Video „Ring the Alarm pt.1, pt.2, pt.3“ – produziert von DJ Motiv8 und will.i.am – ist der Nachfolger von „Street Livin“ und soll aufzeigen wie krank unsere Gesellschaft eigentlich ist. Auch dank eines schlagkräftigen Videos (von Mazik gedreht)!
Das progressive und knallharte Videos ist in drei Parts aufgesplittet, in denen will.i.am, Apl.De.Ap und Taboo in Uniformen ihre Sicht auf die Dinge niederlegen. Trotz der strammen Optik, ist es dank dem Chrous und der Bridge von einer ominösen Sängerin ein echter Ohrwurm geworden.
will.i.am eröffnet den Track mit einem starken Statements, direkt an den Staat gerichtet: „Whoever controls the data got the answers/They the ones that got the code to the launcher/And they be having dinner with the Pope and the mobsters/They know the cure for cancer/Cure for the AIDS and they probably killed the Panthers“

will.i.am über „Ring the Alarm“ bei Complex: „So ‚Ring the Alarm,‘ we wrote in 2014, ‘13? It was after all the police shootings and Ferguson and then, you know, figuring out the rhyme and reason to why that happened, so every time there’s a police shooting, it just so happens to be around an area where the funding of education is low. You didn’t see a police shooting of an unarmed black man in Brentwood.“
